Initiative Description: Activities that girls and young women typically enjoy (e.g., aerobics, dance, walking, self-defense, martial arts, and weight training) were offered in addition to competitive sports and other traditional PE activities. Environmental-change activities included role modeling by faculty and staff, increased communication about physical activity, promotion of physical activity by the school nurse, and family- and community-based activities
