Initiative Description: Systematic review on Physical activity, diet and other behavioral interventions for improving cognition and school achievement in children and adolescents with obesity or overweight. Included 18 studies of 2384 children and adolescents with obesity or overweight. 8 studies were PA interventions, 7 studies combined PA programs with healthy lifestyle education, and studies were dietary interventions. 5 studies were RCTs and 13 were cluster RCTs.

Study Results: Physical activity-only interventions suggested high-quality evidence for improved cognitive executive function scores. Achievement scores were higher among adolescents with obesity who participated in school-based interventions focusing on the food environment as compared to standard practice in adolescents with obesity.
