Initiative Description: The social development curriculum (SDC), which is aimed at managing situations in which high-risk behavior occurs, reduced rates of violent behavior, provoking behavior, school delinquency, drug use, and recent sexual intercourse while increasing the rate of condom use in a sample of inner-city African American boys.
Study Results: The school/community intervention (SCI) that encompassed SDC, school-wide climate, parent, and community components was significantly more successful in reducing rates of violent behavior, provoking behavior, school delinquency, drug use, and recent sexual intercourse, while increasing rate of condom use in a sample of inner-city African American boys than the SDC.
