Initiative Description: Transcendental meditation: Performed while sitting in a comfortable position, the mental technique allows the mind to experience finer levels of the thinking process and to achieve a state of deep relaxation. The program involved 2 didactic lectures, an individual interview with the instructor, individualized instruction in the technique for each participant, then group sessions with the instructor to discuss and review experiences. Participants were advised to practice the technique twice a day for 15 to 20 min at home.
Study Results: Reduced teacher stress, reduced depression symptoms, and reduced burnout.
