Initiative Description: Literature review of school counseling interventions. A total of 50 studies met the inclusion criteria. 12 were classified in the area of guidance curriculum activities; 10 were classified as individual planning studies; 25 were studies in the area of responsive services; and, finally, three were classified as system support studies.
Study Results: Results of most of the studies in this review indicate that activities performed by school counselors have a positive influence on students. However, it was not concluded that school counseling has a positive effect because not all of the common activities performed by school counselors were studied.
