SS GRIN Intervention

Initiative Descriptive: Targetted intervention. An evidence-based group counseling program entitled Social Skills Group Intervention, or S.S. GRIN. S.S. GRIN includes a token economy behavior management system with short- and long-term rewards for appropriate participation and behavior. In addition, the group members added rules to the standard S.S. GRIN rules during the first session. To help the participants take personal ownership in the group, the school counselor had each participant perform a randomly selected job each session.
Study Results: Statistically significant reductions in loneliness ( t= -4.95, p < .001, d = -.88) and social anxiety ( t =-4.06, p < .001, d = -.64) were evident.
