Initiative Description: The intervention consisted of 2 phases: a primary intervention that contained literacy and behavioral components, and a secondary intervention focusing on academic and social skills instruction. Students who were non-responsive to primary intervention efforts after the first 3 months of the school year participated in the secondary interventions. The social skills secondary intervention consisted of direct instruction in social skills acquisition deficits 2 days a week for 30-minute sessions over a 10-week interval.
Study Results: Students significantly increased reading scores and demonstrated low magnitude changes on absenteeism.
