West Valley Community Truancy Board (WVCTB) – Check & Connect

Initiative Description: Core components of the intervention include a community truancy board that is comprised of school, community and court personnel that meets with the families of children who exceed a set number of unexcused absences in order to work with them to overcome obstacles to school attendance.

The methodology involved comparing the school outcomes of a group of students who experienced the intervention to a comparison group that had not experienced the intervention

Study Results: Positive school outcomes for children exposed to the intervention in the form of higher graduation and Graduate equivalency degree (GED) attainment rate.
